Angel’s Impilo Mediation and Health Care was founded in 2019 as a private social work organization, offering services like referrals to rehabilitation centers, therapeutic group work, and GBV workshops. The COVID-19 pandemic brought operations to a halt, but in 2024, the organization pivoted to focus on family law mediation, with the founder earning NABFAM accreditation. Looking ahead to 2025, Angel’s Impilo plans to merge its private social work practice and mediation services under one umbrella, taking a step-by-step approach to rebuilding.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is mediation? Mediation is a process where a neutral third party helps disputing parties communicate and negotiate to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. It is a collaborative approach designed to resolve conflicts without going to court.
How does mediation work? The mediator facilitates discussions between the parties, helping them identify their interests and explore potential solutions. The mediator does not make decisions but guides the parties towards an agreement that works for both sides.
Is mediation legally binding? The agreements reached in mediation are not automatically legally binding, but they can be formalized into a legal contract or court order if the parties choose to do so.
How long does mediation take? The duration of mediation depends on the complexity of the issues and the willingness of the parties to reach an agreement. It can range from a few hours to several sessions over weeks or months.
Is mediation confidential? Yes, mediation is typically confidential, meaning that what is discussed during the mediation sessions cannot be used in court if the dispute is not resolved.
What are the benefits of mediation? Mediation can save time and money compared to litigation, reduce stress, and offer more control over the outcome. It often leads to more creative and flexible solutions that better meet the needs of all parties involved.
Do I need a lawyer for mediation? While legal representation is not required for mediation, having a lawyer can be beneficial to understand your rights and ensure that any agreements are legally sound.
What happens if we can’t reach an agreement in mediation? If the parties are unable to reach an agreement, they may choose to pursue other options, such as arbitration or litigation. Mediation is an opportunity to resolve disputes, but it does not guarantee a resolution.
